1. From Research to Responsibility

Finishing the Liverpool Dances research felt like an important moment. Not because it marked the end of something, but because it made clear that the work couldn’t just stop there.

Research on its own doesn’t change anything. People do.

Now that the findings have been pulled together, the next step is obvious: get it in front of those with the ability to influence, support and shape what happens next. Strategic bodies, funders, policymakers, partners. The people who can help move things from insight to action.

I’ve started setting up meetings. Some were straightforward to get in the diary. Others are taking time. As is often the case in the cultural sector, capacity is stretched, priorities are competing, and enthusiasm for new work can be hard to sustain once it moves beyond conversation. That’s not a criticism, just a reality.

This is where the work shifts gear. From research to responsibility.

Alongside these conversations, I’m also starting to think about how a substantial research report can be broken down into something more accessible and digestible, so the findings can reach beyond those who might otherwise never read all 70 pages.

You’ll start to see the pages on this website evolve over time. This work sits alongside my full-time role and other commitments, so progress will be incremental, but I’ll continue to share updates as things develop.
